“Time = Life, Therefore, waste your time and waste your life, or master your time and master your life.” ~ Alan Lakein

Our lifetime consists of years, months, weeks, and days. Days are the building blocks of our life time. Live successfully one day at a time. Then weeks, months, and years are successful. Finally, your life is successful.

I once read a funny story. A guy wanted to work one weekend on his favorite project. In the morning after he got up, he said to himself, “Let me start working on my project after checking my e-mails.”

Once he was done checking emails, he said, “Let me quickly look at the news headlines and weather on TV.”

After that, it was time to drink coffee. When he went to the kitchen, he saw the trash was full. “Let me take out the trash really quickly,” he said to himself.

He took out the trash, washed his hands, and then opened the refrigerator for some milk. The milk carton was empty, which immediately reminded him that he needed to get groceries. He went to get groceries. Once he came back, he began making coffee. While making coffee, he noticed that he needed to do laundry. So he worked on that. While the laundry was going, meantime he had a nice breakfast.

“Okay, let me start working on my project,” he said to himself. But the cell phone rang, and since it was a call from a friend he had not spoken with in quite some time, he took the call. The friend invited him to a get-together.

He did not work on his project, for too many other matters seemed to keep cropping up.

Have you had a similar experience? How many times in your life? Often, right?

The point I am making is, when you start on high-priority tasks, other low-priority tasks will pop up with justification to do them. Focus single-mindedly on highly important tasks. Low-priority tasks can wait.
